Bluebottle (Calliphora vomitoria)
Adult Bluebottles can grow up to 12mm in length and are a metallic blue colour. This pest is commonly associated with dead rodents or birds and breeds in mostly meat derived substances.

Cluster Fly (Pollenia rudis)
Cluster flies lay their eggs in soil and once hatched, the maggots will feed on earthworms. As adults they grow up to 10mm in length and are a dark grey olive colour. They are a common pest of roof voids and attics in autumn and spring, often returning to the same building year after year.

Filter Fly (Psychoda sp.)
Adult flies of this species are very small, growing to 2mm in length with wings that are covered in hairs. They are weak fliers that often appear to be jumping or hopping and breed in drains and sewage beds.

Adult fruit flies grow to 3mm in length, are a yellow-brown colour and have distinctive red eyes. They are a common pest of pubs and kitchens, laying their eggs on rotting fruit and fermenting juices.

House Fly (Musca domestica)
These flies are found in most types of premises and can be identified by four distinct stripes on their thorax and have a yellow abdomen. They breed in decaying vegetable matter and grow up to 8mm in length.

Lesser House Fly (Fannia canicularis)
These pests grow up to 6mm in length and breed in semi-liquid decaying organic matter. They have an erratic flight pattern and like the common housefly, are found on most premises.
